::Buddy Walk::
Well team Giselle's Dirty Diapers ended up with 63 members with $2,771.50 in donations. Our goal was 50 people and $2,000 so I think we did very well! It was complete chaos and next year we need to have a better plan. Note to self for next year.
1. Make a designated meeting point
2. Hand out shirts ahead of time and see if Matt can get sweet custom shirts.
3. Make a bad ass sign with a stick holder.
4. Bring more cash lol.
5. RUN the 5k.
6. See what it takes to get our own tent.
Okay sorry just making notes for next year. Anyways, I only got choked up a few times. Once we all got there and all the other teams were ready, we all walk to the beach through cheerleaders and a marching band. Walking through the high school kids with the smiles on their faces and knowing they are there to support us on a Saturday just made me tear up. There aren't a lot of good kids left out there but you could tell these kids wanted to be there, not just for the volunteer hours.
Another time I got choked up was watching my little sister and her friend play with this lady with Down Syndrome. She looked so young but she was actually 26. She definitely had the mindset of a child. I was upset thinking "Oh my, what if this is how Giselle is going to be?" But watching my sister and her friend teach her dances and how to cheer made me feel better. If they were that awesome around a complete stranger, then I can't wait to see how they will be around Giselle, no matter how different she might be.
I couldn't believe how many people were there! There must have been over 4,000! They all kinds of games and dancing and food! I definitely recommend this to everyone. We weren't going to do it at first and decided a month out to do it. I'm so glad we did.
I'm glad it was a great day! Our Buddy Walk is this Sunday and I'm super-excited. It will be our first even though Lily is 2.
