Day 36:: Team Giselle's Dirty Diapers, Hair Pulling & More Newborn Pictures

::Team Giselle's Dirty Diapers::

So we signed up for DSAJ's Buddy Walk and we are at $843 in donations! And we have 20 walkers! The walk isn't until October 2nd but we joined with only 30+ days left to raise money so I think we are doing pretty good!  If we get 50 people to walk we get a banner to carry at the walk with our team name on it. That would be super cool.

Ok ok, so maybe it was just coincidence but Giselle got a hold of  my hair last night and would not let go! Her grip is getting very very strong is my point.  Even my doctor commented on how strong her neck is.  She is really starting to get in tune with her hands. She puts them in her mouth after a few tries.

Jennifer Sullivan took her pictures but she wanted to redo them when her new lens came in and I'm glad she did! They came out so amazing.  One of my mother's coworkers apparently knows the lady in charge of a down's syndrome baby calender her in Jax and is going to submit them. Hopefully she gets in it!

Day 30:: One Month Check Up, DSAJ & Newborn Pics

::One Month Check Up::

Yesterday was Giselle's one month check up and we got nothing but great news.  She weighs 8.1 pounds which is very good news because the hole in heart could have kept her from gaining weight. But it didn't yay! She did get her second Hep B shot and a Synagis shot.  She didn't even make a sound with they did the Hep B but the Synagis...oh my god. I couldn't stand that sound. I had never heard her cry like that before yesterday. It was terribly heartbreaking.  But it was worth it to here the good news of her growing.  Synagis is very expensive. It costs $1500 for the insurance and they are charging us $80 copay on it. And we have to get one every month for 6-9 months. UGH! We are going to call this number tomorrow to see if we qualify for any assistance. If we do, I'll keep you posted on how to get it.

::DSAJ::

That stands for the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville. We finally joined her age group called "Lil' Stars". We haven't gone to any socials yet, the next one is Sept 18 and we may or may not go. I'm nervous because I don't know anyone there. It's weird to meet people on the basis that you only have one thing in common: a child with downs.  We ARE trying to raise money for their annual Buddy Walk. It's a one mile walk and all the proceeds go to the association to provide us and other families with free therapies and books.  We have been collecting for 4 days and we have $420 so far. I think that's pretty good.  The walk is Oct 2. I think I'm going to wait until after the walk to start going to the socials. It will give me a chance to meet people while my family is there as well. Might be a little less stressful.  What do you think?

Day 27:: Newborn Pics & Poop!::

So last week my girlfriend took some newborn pics of Giselle. She is a fashion photographer and we had no idea what we were doing! And she told me she would never do them again. Lesson learned?? Babies should be ASLEEP when you do these lol.  These were taken by Lauren Gherardi and are her property.

We did another photoshoot yesterday with Jennifer Sullivan and I can't wait to see what those look like. It took us 2.5 hours to get Giselle to go to sleep and co-operate so make sure you leave a lot of time to do them.  Once she was asleep we got the pictures very quickly.

::Poop!!::

So I just want to share a funny story.  Yesterday Matt was holding her and she pooped really loudly! So when he went to change her diaper, she pooped on him and he realized the first poop shot up her back all the way to her hair!! And I was on an important phone call so I couldn't really help and he was tweeking! It was very funny.
