Month 4 Day 22: Insert Toy in Mouth & Cardio Update

::Grabbing Toys::

While I was playing with the baby this morning, I noticed she wasn't just randomly grabbing my hair anymore. She was actually reaching up to pull it.  So I went and got one of her teething rings and held it above her.  She enough, after about 10 seconds she reached up, wrapped her fingers around it, and stuck it right in her mouth!  She continued to start and chew on it! I was so excited.  She hasn't pull anything in her mouth besides her hands.  I'm so proud of her control.  She has been holding herself up on her belly as well.  Just as easy as breathing.

::Cardiology::

Well, now for the bad news.  Our cardiologist is thinking surgery is right around the corner.  He is giving her another month to gain weight and let the left side of her heart go back down. Because the left side is having to do double the work, it is becoming enlarged.  Giselle is almost 5 months old, and only weighs 11 pounds.  She is still in newborn diapers.  We didn't ask the cardiologist too many questions about the surgery because honestly, we just want to enjoy the holidays.  We go back on Jan 18th to see if this last ditch effort did anything. Everyone I know that  knows a child that has had the surgery said that afterward, she will just start gaining weigh like crazy, and being more active. The thing is, Giselle is already REALLY active. And alert. And AHEAD on her milestones for even a typically developing child.  And I know some babies with no heart defects that are over a year old and don't weigh too much. I guess I'm trying to find excuses to get out of it lol. I just know if she has to have the surgery I am going to be in pieces. I guess we will cross that bridge when we get there.
